Alumni Gather at 109 Fraternity Court

Undergrads Look Forward to Bigger and Better Events
On Saturday, February 18, the undergrads were pleased to welcome nearly 20 alumni back to the house. Together, the undergrads and alumni enjoyed a catered meal along with drinks.
“It was great to catch up with folks, and meet alumni who have not been back the house in quite some time,” says Akash Mishra, alumni chair. “Everyone had a great time, and we look forward to hosting bigger and better events in the future.”

Can You Caption These Photos?
We recently found two great photos in the 1980 edition of Yackety Yack.
Are you in them? Do you recognize anyone? Who are these guys, and what’s the story behind these photos?
Sigma Nus at Work
As Sigma Nu alumni, one of the things we look forward to most is hearing what our brothers have gone on to do in their careers. Currently, very few of our alumni have shared their employers and job titles with us, and we need you to help us change that. Whether you just graduated recently, are […]

Did You Find Love Through Sigma Nu?

For some, Sigma Nu is all about the brotherhood. But for others, it also led them to a whole lot more: the love of their life. For our February issue, we’re looking for love stories from brothers who met their spouses or significant others thanks to Sigma Nu. If you have a Psi Chapter love story to share, […]
Undergrad Chapter Joins Fight Against Cancer

Buy a T-Shirt Today to Support Their Work
By Akash Mishra, Alumni Chair
Our brotherhood is ecstatic to move forward with its most recent philanthropic endeavor—raising money for The V Foundation for Cancer Research. The chapter is preparing a “philanthropy t-shirt sale,” with all proceeds going towards the foundation. Psi Chapter is looking forward to following through with a competitive campaign for good, with the Beta Tau Chapter at NC State. Both chapters will be selling shirts in the weeks leading up to the UNC @ NC State men’s basketball game, which takes place on February 15, 2017.
Brother Doc Blanchard was a Sigma Nu brother before winning the Heisman

Felix “Doc” Blanchard is known for being the first junior to win the Heisman trophy, for leading Army to three national championships, and for flying combat missions over North Vietnam.
But did you that Blanchard was a Sigma Nu brother?
It’s true. Although his most famous exploits came at West Point – where there are no fraternities – Blanchard spent a year at the University of North Carolina, where he joined Sigma Nu Psi Chapter.
Originally from South Carolina, Blanchard attended high school at an elite prep school in Mississippi, where he was a star fullback. He chose North Carolina because he was distantly related to then-Tar Heels coach Jim Tatum.
Tar Heels to meet Stanford in Sun Bowl

North Carolina’s football team will close out its 2016 season in the Sun Bowl on Friday in El Paso.
The Tar Heels (8-4) face Stanford (9-3) at 2 p.m. EST in an ACC/PAC-12 battle. North Carolina is coming off a regular season in which it finished in a tie for second in the ACC Coastal Division; Stanford was the third-place team – behind Washington and Washington State – in the PAC-12 North Division.
North Carolina is in a bowl game for the fourth straight season and the eighth time in the last nine years. The Tar Heels’ last victory in a bowl game was a 39-17 win over Cincinnati in the 2013 Belk Bowl.
During this holiday season, please give to Psi Chapter

In this season of giving, please remember your brothers at Sigma Nu. Thanks to Psi Chapter, you learned the importance of developing ethical leaders, fostering personal growth and perpetuating lifelong friendships. With a gift this holiday season, you’ll be helping other young men discover the importance of these principles – principles that no doubt had […]

As anyone can imagine, keeping a house of roughly 25-30 college-aged men running smoothly and feeding over 80 brothers can be a lot to handle. Luckily, we have Big Sam as our house chef. He is so much more to all of us than just a cook. He is the father figure of our chapter and is the glue that keeps us together. He’s been with us for many years now and continues to approach every day with a verve and charisma that never fails to brighten our days. Read on for more about Big Sam.
