Where in the World Are Sigma Nu Brothers?

Have you used our Psi Chapter directory lately? Our website has a full directory of our alumni – including the people who made your undergrad years so unforgettable. Take some time to reconnect. Here’s some tips on ways to search for other brothers.

After you log in, the directory can be found under the Alumni tab. From there, hit “alumni directory,” and if you are logged in, you can let your searching begin!

Search by location: With our map feature, you can see where Sigma Nu brothers currently live. This is a helpful feature for reunions, tailgate plans or an impromptu meetup on your next trip.

Search by name: Have you lost touch with your old roommate? Use the advanced search feature to find by first or last name.

Over and over, we hear that being part of Sigma Nu was a formative part of life at UNC … and the rest of our lives. Get reconnected to an old friend this year. You’ll be glad you did.

House Basement Gets an Upgrade

The basement in the past few years has not been a very hospitable place for brothers to hang out, so Brother John Shanahan has taken on a project to renovate the basement.

The undergraduates added in a pool table, hung up a TV, and painted designs on the walls to make it more of a gentleman’s lounge. The Fall ’23 pledge class was instrumental in making this happen.

Also special thanks to Brother Carson Vitt for painting the designs and Casie Wyatt (Brother Ayden Wyatt’s mother) for donating $500 for the renovations.

March Undergraduate Updates

Undergraduates Volunteer at Animal Shelter

Recently, some of our undergraduate brothers had the opportunity to volunteer for the Beautiful Together Animal shelter, where they worked on clearing land for future play areas. (Pictured above)

Great work, gentlemen!

Sigma Nu Rocks Chapel Hill

In the past year, 7 of our brothers have started a band called “The Band TBD.” They started out last Spring just playing for Sigma Nu events at the house but have grown to play at big venues like Pantana Bob’s, He’s Not Here, and Lincoln Theater (The Grateful Dead played there!). They play mainly Indie Rock but branch out with stuff from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kings of Leon and The Black Crowes.

Singer – Robbie Donnelly

Drummer – Mason Lennon

Guitars – Nico Naar, Grant Garey, Scott Dyett

Bass – Joe Shanahan

Keys – Will Ballenger

Happy New Year, Brother!

Happy New Year, Brother! Our wish for you in 2024 is for a year filled with happiness, peace, good health, and prosperity. As we continue to reflect on 2023, we must keep at the for front of our minds, the mission and objective of Sigma Nu, and the responsibility we have as alumni to the place that has provided us with the foundation skills for our success we have now.

Now as alumni, we ask that you continue to put your best foot forward to help support not only our alumni events and communications, but that we continue to help perpetuate our undergrad chapter forward so that these fine young undergraduates can experience all the opportunities we had during our time in Sigma Nu.

Sigma Nu alumni, where are you now?

As yet another year goes by since our time as undergraduates at UNC came to an end, it can be increasingly difficult to keep tabs on what our Psi chapter buddies have been up to. Time passes, life gets in the way, and we naturally lose touch.

To fight that progressive drift, we want to hear from you! What have you been up to since the Sigma Nu days? Have you reconnected with any fellow alumni? Have you been thinking about any good stories from back in the day? We want to know!

The Benefits of Brotherhood

As you know, being a part of a fraternity offers more than just a social experience—as brothers, we gained a sense of community, a place to call home, preparation for post-grad life, and the life-changing, lifelong benefits of friendship, leadership, and shared values.

  • What do 85% of the executives of Fortune 500 companies and 80% of United States Presidents since 1900 have in common? According to Fraternity Advisor, they were all members of Greek organizations during college.
  • Fraternity and sorority membership helps young men and women cultivate leadership skills, gain a sense of social identity, and learn to work well with others. Fraternities and sororities not only offer the context to develop these skills but, just as importantly, can often help students work toward future internships and job opportunities. Employers like seeing the documented leadership experience that fraternity life can provide.
  • Networking is an integral part of the college experience and Greek life provides one of the strongest foundations for social interfacing with a network of peers. Greek organizations help build networks that often prove beneficial to students when looking for internships, employment, recommendations, or employees.

Sigma Nu takes young men and shapes them into functioning adults through leadership in the fraternity, charity work within the community, and networking for post-grad life. Greek life is an essential part of any collegiate system.

Collecting personal testimonials about the fraternity experience is important to our legacy. CLICK HERE and let us know how the benefits of Sigma Nu impacted your life.
